My favorites...

Since it was asked...( I tried to reply, but it wouldn't allow me to insert images in the reply u_u )

From a historical standpoint, the use of propagandist art in kimono design steals the spot. Although I have mixed feelings over what it represents (as the imagery is in support of the Italian invasion of Ethiopia) - but the use of clothing in this fashion is something that caught me completely off guard.

The second image is from early 1900s and is representative of the crossover style of kimono style print over western cut shirts. The result is something ridiculously stylish, that I personally would love to wear.Inline image 2

Kimono Exhibit at the MET

こんしゅうのしゅうまつにMETへいきました。”Kimono:A Modern History"をみました。そしてこのしゃしんをとりました。I was surprised not only by the variety of their designs, but their use throughout their history not only in story telling and theater, but their use in making political statements as well. I'd highly recommend anyone else with even a remote interest in it in attending - you will not be disappointed.
